Fresh Civic Briefing

Editorial policy

Fresh Civic Briefing aims to make civic subjects understandable without overstating what an explanation can establish. Editorial decisions are guided by clarity, accuracy and a fair account of relevant context.

Accuracy and context

We check factual statements against suitable material, define terms in context and distinguish established information from interpretation. When a subject varies by place or changes over time, we say so rather than implying one account applies everywhere. We do not present editorial explanations as professional advice.

Independence and labelling

Editorial choices are made for their relevance to the publication's subject. A paid placement or other partner material is labelled clearly so readers can distinguish it from editorial work. A partnership does not promise favourable coverage or editorial approval.

Corrections

If a material error is identified, we review it and correct the text with a clear note where appropriate. Readers can use the Contact page to describe the issue and point to the passage in question; we consider correction requests on their merits.

Illustrations

Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence. Illustrations are not evidence for an article's claims, and we aim to avoid imagery that could mislead readers about a real person, event or place.
